The first instalment of the TDP offshoot label, Gold Seal. We celebrate the start of the new alternative hiphop and triphop collective with Beatroot's infusion of deep intelligent dub and hiphop music. Saxon has hooked up with an old friend to deliver some more boundary stepping beats and progressive chord construction. MC and conscious lyricist, Hobaps from the highly appraised alternative hiphop duo, Major Triadz, and the masterful acoustic band, The Inexplicables. Has spent a few sessions at the edge of a spit of sand, at the mouth of the Aberdovey estuary in the west coast of Wales in Ynyslas. This short EP is the result of those few hours of recording. Hobaps's lyrics combined with the productions of Beatroots is an intriguing flavour, but one with familiarity and one that doesn't stray too giddy from the path of intention. The lyrics are an ingenious poem, describing to us the bits we look forward to in life, and the overseeing oppressive nature of the unfortunate state of minds of those who contribute to our hierarchy. The message is a familiar one. However, it's deliverance is spot on in terms of it's accessibility and tone. Deep intricate triphop beats, with conscious and inescapably truthful lyrics. Enjoy!
